I get on that wheel because I feel like I'm obligated, like I have to keep going and spinning, even if I'm afraid and I don't want to do it anymore. Before my novel came out, I had to practice reading the book. I was TERRIFIED. Now, I have to remind myself that It's okay. I've done this before and I'm pretty good at it. My friend and fellow writer, Heidi Durrow, offered some sage wisdom: The audience can't have a good time and relax if you don't relax and have fun. I always remember that--even as my palms sweat and my heart rate increases. Thank you for this lovely, personal and helpful account of Independence Day. It really strikes a cord with me.
