Vicarious Getaways

I love escaping to new places through books.

 Years ago I read Mary Stewart's books and dreamed of traveling to Crete, Corfu, and France.

Elizabeth Peter's books made me yearn for airline tickets to Rome, Egypt, and Germany, to name a few.

I've been able to travel to a few of these places (and write about them, too, in my On The Run books).

 But many of the destinations are still on my wish list.

 Thank goodness for books that take us away vicariously to new places or help us return to old favorites.

    I started out reading antebellum historical romances so I had to tour the south. And then I read "Oriental Hotel" and was thrilled to make my way to those very same destinations - Hong Kong, Singapore and Bangkok! Love books that take you away and will check out your collection.

    I suffer from extreme wanderlust...just seeing photos of some of these beautiful places and hearing you mention them (the Amalfi Coast!) sends me daydreaming about travel adventures...sigh. Two places I love are Cairns, Australia and Capri, Italy. I've always wanted to see Iceland, Moscow and Fiji ;).

    I *loved* the Amalfi Coast and Capri. I thought they were two of the most beautiful places I'd ever seen. And it was raining that first time I saw Amalfi. :)
