I’ve been having a blast
clawing my way through the wild and woolly world of e-books with my chick lit
mystery novel Falling Uphill. Now
I’ve just released another—a women’s fiction page-turner that’ll make a great
summer read! His Wife and Daughters is
a family drama about a congressman’s sex scandal from 20 years ago and how it
still haunts his wife and two grown daughters today, and I’m giving away 3 free
copies!
Here’s the scoop on the
book:
It’s 1988 and Trina Brath and her teenage daughters, Jill and
Phoebe, lead happy and privileged lives as the wife and daughters of successful
California Congressman Dan Brath. But that all changes when Dan, 52, is
suspected of having an affair with Lesley Chisholm, a 19-year-old Washington DC
intern who has gone missing. Soon Dan Brath is being accused in the harsh media
spotlight of not only sleeping with Lesley, but responsible for her
disappearance. Despite Trina’s standing by her husband—yet keeping the secret
that he has cheated on her many times before—the incessant media scrutiny puts
a strain on the family, and their lives to go into a tailspin. Eight months later,
when Lesley mysteriously returns home safe and sound, Dan Brath’s career is
over, and his family is in tatters.
Fast forward to today and the scandal that rocked the Brath family
continues to take its toll. Jill has food issues and can’t trust men, Phoebe
leads a self-destructive life and Trina continues to blame Lesley Chisholm for
everything.
And now Lesley is breaking her silence with a tell-all memoir, which
is sure to make Dan Brath’s wife and daughters relive the trauma all over
again. Will Jill, Trina and Phoebe be able to cope, heal their wounds and move
on with their lives? Told from the viewpoints of the three women, His Wife and Daughters is a moving and
fascinating story of how one family attempts to survive the ultimate betrayal.
“A refreshing narrative
with a strong sense of place: political scandal with an interesting twist that
hits the mark.” —Kirkus Reviews
From President Warren G.
Harding in the 1920s on through Gary Hart, Bill Clinton, Gary Condit, Elliot
Spitzer, Herman Cain, John Edwards, etc., etc. (and not to mention the “secret”
affairs of John F. Kennedy and other presidents), sex scandals and politics seem
to go hand in hand. To enter for the free giveaway, just leave a comment here
on the Girlfriends Book Club about why you think these scandals never go out of
style and why these men always seem to think they can get away with it. And be
sure to include your email address!
Three winners will be
chosen at random after the deadline of Sunday, May 6 at midnight PDT. His Wife and Daughters is available on
the Kindle platform only (on the Kindle reader, or free Kindle app for your
smart phone, iPad, PC or Mac). And this giveaway is open to U.S. residents
only.

ReplyDeleteLove that you used different POVs....It seems power breeds arrogance which morphs into some sort of Teflon morality...

Thanks, Maggie and Christa!
ReplyDeleteWendy, best of luck with the new book! It sounds fabulous. I think the public will always be fascinated with these stories because politicians are celebrities and we love it when our celebrities fall (sad, but true).
ReplyDeleteThe book sounds great! But then I love all of your books. Best of luck, Wendy.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kimberley!
DeleteSounds like a great book! I'd love to read it. jezebeljorge(at)gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love political stories! It's the being hypocritical, talking family values while doing the intern. The look behind the public mask.

Sometimes the same traits that make a person believe they are exceptional enough to lead also makes them think the rules don't apply to them. Sounds like a very interesting book!
